Cloud-based Single Source of Truth

Utilize our cloud platform for guaranteed uptime and move away from shared spreadsheets, putting all your data in one place. Real-time editing keeps everyone up to date and removes the hassle of emailing around out-of-date versions of documents.

Single Source of Truth

A core concept at Ixio Global is Single Source of Truth. It means that there's only one version of any data, and that version is the jointly agreed correct version. Any linkages to this data is by reference only. Updates to the data in the primary location propagate to the entire system without the possibility of a duplicate value somewhere being forgotten.
On top of thhis, there's also one true history of each data element. All changes to every data element are stored so you can always backtrack in case something goes wrong, or you need to consult earlier decisions.

This is the opposite of what happens when you use documents like spreadsheets among various employees, and transfer them by email, or even a sharebox. Participating employees are never sure they have the latest version of a file without asking everyone, and each copy of the document can start a new editing history branch. With SSoT these pains are all gone, as you're always sure you're looking at the latest updated data and there's a clear, single-branch history available.

Real-time updates

To facilitate the SSoT concept even further, all changes to any data are updated on other users' screens in real time.

Cloud-based

Cloud-based means we utilize Microsoft's cloud platform called Azure to host our infrastructure. This enables us to offer you enterprise-level service on all grounds.

High availability

The power of the cloud is that services and resources are incredibly robust and resilient. It is very unlikely that they will fail to run, because the cloud is smart and self-healing. With Azure, there are datacenters all over the world, filled with tens of thousands of servers. If one server fails, another takes over. If an entire datacenter were to fail (a highly unlikely scenario), another would take over. All this is possible because of the massive scale of the cloud.

Scalability

One of the most compelling arguments in favor of the cloud is that we can scale up our infrastructure almost infinitely, with just a few clicks of a button. We can't do that with on-premises resources without spending enormous sums of money on capital equipment and staffing to administer it all. On top of that we can scale globally. We can put our services anywhere in the world so that wu can provide a high-performance experience to you, our user, regardless of where you are. It also means that we can keep your data where you need it to be.
Equally important, because we're using cloud resources, we can scale back our infrastructure when demand is lower, allowing us to lower our prices.

Security

In addition to massive scalability, off-the-shelf intelligent services, and pay-per-use efficiency, the cloud offers increased security. The cloud is used by millions of people, 24x7, worldwide. This also means that it is attacked by many people. Reputable and experienced cloud providers like Microsoft recognize the usage patterns of normal users and those of malicious actors. This means they know how to protect against both the most common and most unique attacks out there. Intelligent monitoring tools, machine learning algorithms, and artificial intelligence give cloud providers the ability to detect attacks in real time and stop them in their tracks.

Decades of experience in security and massive-scale traffic, combined with top industry security expertise, make the cloud a much more secure environment than any on-premises datacenter.

Trusted by governments, 90% of fortune 500 companies and millions of others.

Microsoft
Quality

Microsoft's cloud environment allows us to provide infrastructure for our various quality processes. While High Availability, Scalability and Security ensure great uptime and safe operation, we employ various methods to guarantee the quality of our software. We run multiple environments to both manually and automatically tests new and existing features continuously, preventing any regression or bugs to occur on the actual production platform. Automated deployments drastically reduce the chance of human error, and combined with multiple physical deployment slots we can deploy and roll out new features and updates without downtime.

Compliance

Microsoft leads the industry in establishing clear security and privacy requirements and then consistently meeting these requirements. Azure meets a broad set of international and industry-specific compliance standards For more information, we refer to Microsoft's website.

Automate

Increase your employee's efficiency by automating their workflow. From creating and sending documents and invoices, to truck driver holiday approvals, and even the planning and managing of rides. Configure business rules for maximum profit optimization.

Automation tiers

For all features our platform offers there are up to three automation tiers that you can run the feature in. While it is hard to treat each feature in the same way, below are the concepts of each automation tier. Note that each tier builds on the previous tier, meaning that each tier brings additional functionality and increasingly reduces work hours.
See the Pricing page for a detailed description of what each automation tier will perform for each feature.

A1 - Automation tier one

The first tier is always enabled as soon as you enable a feature and is therefore included in the base price of each feature. This first tier saves about 30% of work hours when coming from a setup with spreadsheets or loose documents/paper, etc. by bringing all the benefits of a cloud-based SSoT platform.

A2 - Automation tier two

The second automation tier is designed to hand off much of the functional knowledge that your employees posses to the system. This is possible with the configuration of business rules that becomes available when enabling A2. Advantages of this are twofold:

  • Removes single point of (knowledge) failure; any employee can now take over
  • Employees' work becomes less stressful and error prone, as can now be guided by the system
Together with the functionality provided by automation tier A1 this tier saves about 50% of work hours.

A3 - Automation tier three

The last tier provides functionality to mostly take over the work from your employees. With tier 3 enabled your employees are relieved of 85% of their tasks. Of course there is still some amount of work hours required to control and adjust. This tier is self-monitoring; once it detects cases for which there aren't any business rules yet, manual action will be required. You also get the opportunity to add business rules for that situation. Your employees can alter automated output at any time by rejecting made suggestions in e.g. planning and substitute their own solution.

Besides reducing workload, tier three also provides additional business value that, depending on the size of your company, is hard to achieve for humans. You can define rules that will lead the system to optimize your operational profit. E.g. based on driver's fuel efficiency, the longest hauls will be assigned to the most fuel efficient driver. Without violating any other defined restrictions, our platform can offer a new planning to changed situations withing seconds.

Integrate

Seamlessly integrate your existing data sources through easy to understand, yet powerful and secure APIs. Choose from existing integrations for standard applications such as bookkeeping systems, OBU's and more, or request new integrations when none are available.

Platform

One of the major benefits over other transportation platforms is that ours adapts to your company's specific needs in a matter of hours, completely free of charge. The secret behind this is that we can tailor our platform for you through configuration. Before you can start using the platform, an account manager will hold one or more workshops with you to figure out how the platform is best configured for your needs, and gets to work.

Interfacing

All businesses should have a core business and stick to it. So do we. All things that we don't do ourselves, we interface with. You can choose from a vast amount of existing interfaces with external systems for bookkeeping, OBU's, etc. If your system is not available, we'll happily create a new interface for you free of charge, depending on the situation.

Data Protection

At Ixio Global we take data protection very seriously. Therefore we have not invented any protection methods ourselves, but rely on proven, enterprise grade technologies as provided by Microsoft Azure.

Authentication and authorization

Your data is accessible only to the people you grant access to from within your account, and your account manager.
To authenticate these people, we rely on Azure's AD B2C.

Permissions and roles

All actions on our platform are related to a permission. You can assign permissions to custom user roles. User roles can then be assigned to your users.

The permission system offers a very fine-grained access control framework, where you can (dis)allow Create, Read, Update and Delete rights of every feature, definition type, definition, or even view of all your data. Changes, once saved, are applied instantly.

Apart from changing your user's permissions within your account, you can also easily revoke their entire access to your account.

Data storage and integrity

Apart from accessing the data, it's also important how this data is stored in order to remain safe and structuraly sound.

Physical storage

For storing your data we rely on various technologies that are offered by the Azure cloud platform. These include Azure SQL, Azure Storage and Azure CosmosDB, …
Each of these managed technologies provide Transparent Data Encryption and Encryption at Rest of both live and backup data. On top of that, data is replicated multiple times within an availability region to ensure maximum data protection.

For more information about Azure's different geographies, please see their documentation.
For more information about Azure's general infrastructure security, please see their documentation.

Data integrity

The infrastructural requirements for data integrity are fully handled by the Azure cloud platform. That leaves the requirements of the application itself in our hands; this is where our technical expertise comes in.

We make sure that all write interactions with related data happen in an atomic way, meaning that the operation either succeeds or fails (in which case we retry), but never partially succeeds. This ensures that your data will never get into an unexpected state.

We keep a versioned history of all changes and take backups of all data at regular intervals.

GDPR

As a SaaS platform, we're both a data controller and a data processor. In what follows, there's a detailed explanation of what we do with your data, and how you can be GDPR compliant yourself using our platform.

Data controller

As a data controller we oversee the following data:

  • We collect the legally required information to bill you for the usage of our platform. This data is retained for the legally required period, after termination of your account.
  • We collect the email address and full name of all users that utilize our platform as legitimate interest – it is necessary to provide our service. Requesting to remove this data is possible, but it blocks the user's access from the platform.
  • Our internal analytics tools only track a random client id of people using the platform. This is considered anonymous data, as it cannot be correlated to a specific person (exact IP addresses are not tracked).
  • We only use CDN's to serve static content that are known to respect GDPR.

We do not share data with any 3rd parties. All data listed above is located in Azure's West-Europe data region.

Data processor

As data processor we're fully compliant with the regulation as defined in art 28.

  1. We only process data (store, update, delete transfer/read) at instruction of you, the controller, unless required to do so by Union or Member State law, in which case you will be informed beforehand if allowed.
  2. We ensure that persons that process data are authorized to do so by means of our permission system.
  3. We rely on Azure cloud to provide adept security of processing as defined in art 32.
  4. We respect the conditions listed under paragraphs 2 and 4 of art 28 for engaging with another processor. We currently only engage with Microsoft Azure.
  5. We assist you with technical (platform UI) and organisational (account manager) measures for the fulfillment of the controller's obligation to respond to requests for exercising the data subject's rights laid down in Chapter III.
  6. We will delete all data upon account termination, both live data, replications and backups, unless Union or Member State law requires otherwise.
  7. We make available any data that's necessary to demonstrate compliance if that data wasn't already provided so far.
